Singita Lebombo Lodge
I stayed at Singita Lebombo a while back and it still stands out as one of the best. The lodge itself feels modern and open, almost like a glass treehouse tucked into the cliffs above the river. I remember waking up early, watching the sunrise over the Kruger landscape, and just sitting in the quiet.
The wildlife was exactly what I hoped for, but what I really noticed was the attention to detail. When I arrived, I ended up doing an impromptu wine tasting in their cellar. They picked up on the fact that I preferred white wines and somehow, from that point on, they made sure my room was always stocked with chilled white wine.
What really impressed me, though, happened when they found out I was heading on to the Cape Winelands after my safari. Without me even asking, they printed a list of all the wines I had enjoyed during my stay, complete with the names and addresses of the wineries. It made it so easy to stop by and pick up a few bottles to bring home. I definitely recommend the Stark Conde Chenin Blanc it became one of my favorites after that trip.
It is those little touches that make Singita feel special. They just notice things, and they anticipate what you might want before you realize it yourself. Wild!

Kapama Karula
Kapama Karula is another lodge I really liked. The vibe here is simple and modern. My suite had floor-to-ceiling windows so I could watch elephants wander past while I was having coffee. It’s not flashy — it just does everything really well. I spent my afternoons relaxing in my private plunge pool, which felt like the perfect way to wind down after morning drives.

Molori Safari Lodge
Molori is a completely different style, and that’s what I loved about it. It’s colorful, a little bold, and has this relaxed, hip vibe. Think big decks for stargazing, eclectic decor, and staff who make you feel more like you’re visiting friends than staying at a hotel. It’s stylish without being overly designed, and it still delivers a really high level of comfort. I recommend Molori to guests who want something less traditional but still luxurious.

Lodges Still on My List
Two places I keep recommending, but haven’t stayed at yet, are Tswalu Kalahari and andBeyond Tengile River Lodge (see photo below).
Tswalu offers a very different kind of safari. It’s private and remote, set in the Kalahari with red dunes, black-maned lions, and rare wildlife you’re not going to see in the Kruger. Each guest has their own private guide and tracker, which makes the experience very personalized.
Tengile is located along the Sand River in Sabi Sand, known for its leopard sightings and intimate game drives. Guests I’ve worked with have loved how peaceful it feels in between drives, and it’s high on my list for the future.
