Sugarloaf & the Afro-Brazilian Heart of Rio
Begin the day with a ride by cable car to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain, where breathtaking views of the city, bay, and beaches unfold beneath you. Continue into Rio’s historic Little Africa district to explore the Afro-Brazilian Heritage Trail, visiting Praça XV, Valongo Wharf, Jardins do Valongo, Conceição Hill, and Pedra do Sal, the birthplace of samba. Lunch is at Cais do Oriente, a lush, art- filled restaurant tucked inside a 19th- century warehouse.
